New aerial photos from friend of the site Bioreconstruct reveal the latest work taking place on a new carousel ride coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The carousel is one of three attractions that will be part of the Tropical Americas land when it opens next year, replacing DinoLand USA. Here’s a look at the latest work!
Woodcarver Carousel Ride Base Construction
One of the overlooked aspects of the new Tropical Americas-themed land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom is an all-new carousel ride featuring Disney animals. As the story goes, a woodcarver has created a giant working carousel featuring his favorite animals from Disney stories. Disney says that it’s a new take on a classic attraction that young families are going to love.
Guests attending the 2024 D23 Expo were able to get a first look at one of the ride vehicles designed for the attraction. Check out our article below for a closer look at the wonderful details that guests can expect when the ride opens in 2027.
Before we get to the aerial photos, here’s an “overhead” look at the carousel as seen in the Tropical Americas scale model, now on display at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Turning our attention back to the aerial photos, we can see that the central ride base is really well defined. The attraction will be across a walkway from the former Restaurantosaurus quick-service restaurant.
In this closest photo, we can see the infrastructure work taking place not only on the edge of the carousel, but right in the middle of the ride base as well. This likely includes plenty of electrical work to power the carousel.
