Single-Day Closure Announced for Little Mermaid Ride at Magic Kingdom

|

According to the Walt Disney World website, Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid will be closed for a single day next week. Walt Disney World has not announced a proper refurbishment for the attraction, and a single-day closure really doesn’t leave a lot of time for work, but here’s the latest.

Single-Day Closure for Little Mermaid Ride

According to the Walt Disney World operational calendar, Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid will be closed on Wednesday, February 11th. The ride is currently scheduled to reopen on February 12th after a single-day closure.

Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid is a “book report”-style attraction, taking guests through some iconic scenes from the animated classic. Guests board a clamshell ride vehicle for an Omnimover slow ride through a number of detailed underwater sets.

Your underwater adventure takes you below the waves on a tour of Ariel’s gadget-filled grotto. Immersive special effects and hand-drawn animation sequences recreate each unforgettable scene. Watch Sebastian the crab conduct every singing, dancing fish in the sea. Skulk past a sinister eel-infested lair, and then cheer as Prince Eric kisses the girl.

Spot Ariel’s friends Flounder and Scuttle, her father King Triton—and Ursula the sea witch, who looms 7.5 feet tall and 12 feet wide!

Emerge from the ocean’s depths in time to celebrate Ariel’s happily ever after in a spectacular fairytale finale.
