Walt Disney World President Jeff Vahle has commented on the recent news that Disneyland President Thomas Mazloum has been named Chairman, Disney Experiences. In his statement, Vahle shared his excitement for the future, and said he had a tremendous amount of respect for Mazloum’s leadership and character. Here’s the latest.

Jeff Vahle Comments on New Disney Experiences Chairman Announcement

I’ve always admired Thomas Mazloum’s ability to combine operational excellence with a genuine passion for our Cast Members. We’ve worked closely together over the years – across cruise ships, resorts and as colleagues leading the U.S. Disney Parks – and I have tremendous respect for his leadership and character. I’m excited to step into the next era of Disney Experiences alongside him. Congratulations on being named Chairman, Thomas!

While I don’t have any inside knowledge of the process, you’d have to imagine that Vahle would be on a shortlist of candidates to take over the Disney Experiences division. Vahle has been the President of the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida since 2020, taking over after Josh D’Amaro moved from Walt Disney World to Disney Experiences Chairman himself.

Vahle has overseen a number of attraction openings and operational changes at Walt Disney World. In fact, both Mazloum and Vahle have experience leading not only the most popular theme park destinations in the world, but also the Disney Cruise Line division. They both have international experience as well. On paper, both leaders are pretty close.

It will be interesting to see what Vahle does with Walt Disney World over the next few years as projects continue to come online. It is believed that the Villains Land project will open around 2030. No other major projects have been announced past that timeframe.

There is a lot of change underway at Walt Disney World right now, so perhaps D’Amaro thought it best to keep Vahle in place to see these major projects through. Disneyland, on the other hand, is on the precipice of major projects, but most of the expected growth doesn’t have shovels in the ground yet, with the exception of the Avengers Campus project.

“We’re in an unprecedented period of growth for Disney Experiences,” said Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences and incoming Chief Executive Officer of the Walt Disney Company. “This team will propel the world-class experiences Disney is known for to more guests across the globe.”

“Thomas Mazloum is an exceptional leader with a genuine appreciation for our cast members and a proven track record of delivering growth,” said D’Amaro. “His focus on service excellence, broad international leadership, and strong connection to the creativity that brings our stories to life make him the right leader to guide Disney Experiences into its next chapter.”
