UPDATE: Spaceship Earth Reopens at EPCOT Following Multi-Day Closure, Here’s A Look Inside

Thank the Phoenicians! Spaceship Earth has reopened at EPCOT this morning following a multi-day closure. The attraction last operated on March 20th, and was closed all day on the 21st and 22nd. With Spaceship Earth now reopened, we decided to jump in line to see what was different, if anything. There were unconfirmed rumors that the attraction had suffered a burst pipe and that there was damage to one or more of the show scenes.

A Look Inside Spaceship Earth Following Multi-Day Closure

After one ride, we didn’t notice any substantial changes to the attraction. If there was a burst pipe and damage to one or more of the scenes, it has been fixed and returned to a similar quality as before the attraction closed. There were no covered or blocked scenes during our ride this morning.

The Project Tomorrow post-show area was also fully reopened, and there didn’t appear to be any noticeable changes. In short, this should be the same Spaceship Earth that you know and remember.

I did notice that the lighting in a couple of scenes seemed brighter, but that’s likely just a subjective observation. I also thought that the opening video scene with the caveman and the mammoth had some excessive wrinkling in the projection area.

We did have a vehicle screen malfunction during our ride. The screens in our vehicle and those around us jumped back to the load area screen, asking us to select a narration language for our journey. The narration itself didn’t skip a beat, and it’s possible that the glitch we experienced was temporary and not related to the multi-day closure.

Here are a few photo highlights from our ride on Spaceship Earth this morning following the unexpected closure.
