Good news, Celestials! The Stardust Racers roller coaster is now open at Epic Universe, earlier than planned. Of course, the “early” reopening comes after a couple of extensions to the refurbishment schedule. At the end of the day, what matters is that the popular roller coaster is now back open in a theme park that desperately needs all rides to be firing on all cylinders. Here’s the latest.
Stardust Racers Reopens “Early” at Epic Universe
Stardust Racers, mostly recently scheduled to be closed through April 5th, is now operational at Universal Epic Universe, according to the official Universal Orlando Resort app. The roller coaster has reopened earlier than most recently planned following four refurbishment schedule extensions.
Stardust Racers originally closed on February 19th, and it was only supposed to be closed for a few days. Universal had previously published two February opening dates, and a March 14th reopening date, prior to the most recent April 5th reopening date. Now, the roller coaster has reopened 11 days “early”.
Any extended downtime is amplified for guests visiting Epic Universe. The young theme park continues to face ride reliability issues as executives play with the idea of expanding ticket types to allow more guests to visit. As Epic Universe approaches its first anniversary, Universal is trying to find a way to offer Annual Passes to the park. That said, there needs to be an improvement in ride reliability and guest throughput.
Stardust Racers is one of our favorite rides at Epic Universe, and it could be argued that it is the best roller coaster at Universal Orlando Resort.
As Epic Universe continues to grow, we’re hopeful that the park is able to settle into normalized operations and that guests are presented with the option to purchase an Annual Pass. As for me, I personally can’t wait to purchase an Annual Pass to enjoy low wait times at the Monsters Unchained attraction and a lunch at Pizza Moon.
