Tomorrowland Entrance Rocks Repainting Appears Complete at Magic Kingdom

While visiting Magic Kingdom earlier today, we stopped by Tomorrowland to take a look at the entrance rock repainting project. We last wrote about the repainting project a little over a month ago. At that time, the project appeared to be roughly halfway complete. Since then, crews have been working on the southern cluster of rocks, and it looks like work may be done. Here’s a closer look!

Tomorrowland Entrance Rocks Repainting Project Appears Complete

As you may be able to tell, the rocks have a new look to them, adding in more natural tones to the previously metallic purple/blue rocks. We’ll start with a couple of before/current photos, showcasing the change.

There’s no doubt that there was a substantial shift in appearance, especially when compared to the “before” from a few years ago. Here are some more detailed shots of the repainting. We’ll note that the moat is still drained as part of the ongoing Cinderella Castle repainting project. So long as the moat is empty (and lifts nearby), we can’t really call the work “completed” given that crews still have access to the rocks.

That said, we haven’t noticed any changes in the past couple of visits, so it’s possible that they are substantially done with the repainting project.

If this is the final product, there is still a lot of purple in play here. At one point during the project, it looked like the purple would be a thing of the past. Now, there is a marriage of the metallic purple of old and a more natural stone color. It’s an interesting look and one that can be striking or fade away into the background, depending on where you’re looking.
