Good morning from Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where it is a busy Star Wars Day 2026. While checking out the crowds, we noticed that a connection to the former Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser immersive theater hotel has been restored! No, there is no shuttle service to the Starcruiser, but the docking bay where shuttle service was underwent a recent change. Here’s the latest!
Docking Bay 3 Naming Restored at Hollywood Studios
Earlier this year, the former Docking Bay 3 was renamed to Docking Bay 6 within Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. While there never was Docking Bay 3 signage, Docking Bay 3 was the name for this area, which is where guests would arrive and depart Batuu during the multi-day Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser experience.
The change to Docking Bay 6 was an odd one, but we assumed that Disney was simply trying to distance itself from the Galactic Starcruiser. As you may remember, the Galactic Starcruiser was shuttered after Disney determined it wasn’t a viable concept for their business. While the Starcruiser immersive theater hotel experience itself was second to none, Disney gave up on it after just a couple of years of operation.
While current CEO Josh D’Amaro said that “something will happen” with the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser during his tenure as Chairman of Disney Experiences, Disney seemingly gave up on a Starcruiser 2.0 concept before it even got off the ground. Now, the space is being heavily modified to be turned into offices for Walt Disney Imagineering.
Given that failure, we assumed that the Docking Bay 6 naming was an attempt at putting distance between Disney and the Starcruiser.
However, I was wrong. Something happened behind the scenes recently, and the Docking Bay 3 naming was restored! I would love to know what that decision was, but I haven’t heard why Disney decided to change the naming for this area. Now, with the Docking Bay 3 name restored, the connection to the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser doesn’t seem that far removed.
Here’s a look at the area during a busy Star Wars Day today. This was the popcorn bucket distribution area, so the whole area was quite crowded.
