Good morning from an overcast Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge within Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While walking through Batuu, we noticed that new signage has been “installed” at the former docking bay where guests would land on Batuu as part of the multi-day, immersive theater Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser experience. The new “sign” renames the former Galactic Starcruiser docking bay, perhaps drawing a clear line in the (coarse and rough and irritating) sand for this corner of the planet.
Galactic Starcruiser Docking Bay Renamed
Before Disney prematurely closed the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser immersive theater hotel experience, guests would make the journey from the Halcyon ship down to the planet of Batuu as part of their multi-day story. We document the in-story journey in our article below, but the relevant information for our article today is that the docking bay that guests would make port in was called Docking Bay 3. Now, that has changed.
As you can see in our photos below, Disney has “installed” a new “sign” at the entrance to the docking bay cave, renaming Docking Bay 3 to Docking Bay 6.
Inside the docking bay, nothing significant has changed. This is still the location where guests will go to have their Disney PhotoPass Capture Your Moment Session check-in. Remnants of the Galactic Starcruiser experience remain, including the “M-Band” touchpoints that guests would use to track their movements between the shuttle transport and the theme park experience.
As you may know, the innovative Galactic Starcruiser hotel is being transformed into offices for Walt Disney Imagineering. BlogMickey.com previously unearthed a permit outlining the work taking place within the bunker-style facade of the hotel. The details of the permit make it very clear: the Galactic Starcruiser experience is not coming back.
