Walt Disney World has released a new video showing the Mandalorian and Grogu giving a mission briefing for the updated Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction. In the video, the Mandalorian reveals that our bounties are two Imperial officers and a pirate. Our goal is to capture them, along with any crates they’re transporting. Here’s a first look!
The Mandalorian Delivers Mission Briefing for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run Update
As previously detailed, Hondo Ohnaka has gotten wind of a deal going down on Tatooine between ex-Imperial officers and a band of pirates, and with a generous bounty on the line, he’s enlisting your crew’s help to track them down. The Mandalorian and Grogu will meet us there. Interestingly, Mando doesn’t mention that they’re ex-Imperial officers in the video released. I wonder if there was a change made from the official announcement.
This update debuts on May 22, 2026, the same day as The Mandalorian and Grogu film hits theaters, at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. While the Imagineers worked closely alongside The Mandalorian team and even captured scenes on the movie set, the attraction’s storyline won’t retell the film. Instead, it’s described as “more like participating in something that’s happening just off-camera from what you see in the film.”
The update brings some major gameplay changes as well. For the first time ever, the crew will be in control of their own destination, leading to potential adventures on Bespin, the wreckage of the second Death Star around Endor, or the bustling city-planet Coruscant. The attraction is also rumored to be renamed, adding an “A New Mission” tagline.
The Engineer role is also getting a meaningful upgrade. Often considered the least exciting position in the cockpit, Engineers will now be able to interact with and care for Grogu during the mission.
An expanded partnership between Disney and Epic Games means Unreal Engine, the same technology Lucasfilm uses to create virtual sets for The Mandalorian series, will help power the new adventure.
