Disneyland has assembled the team that will prepare two new Avengers Campus attractions for guests, a notable milestone for an expansion project that has made steady progress. The cast members were selected for the resort’s test & adjust team, the group that works alongside Walt Disney Imagineers to fine-tune rides before they open. For many of them, this is a first. Here’s what they’ll be doing in the months ahead.

  • For many of the newly selected cast members, this is their first test & adjust assignment.
  • The team was surprised with the news during an Avengers-themed class at Animation Academy.
  • They’re building queue and ride-loading protocols from scratch, before the attractions open.

Who’s On the Team and What They Do

Disneyland has selected a group of cast members for the Avengers Campus test & adjust team, the crew responsible for getting Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab ready to operate. Test & adjust teams work directly with Walt Disney Imagineers, testing attractions long before official opening. According to Disney, cast members learned they had made the team during a special Avengers-themed reveal at Animation Academy, and for most of them, it’s their first time on such a team.

The work goes well beyond just riding the attractions early. Test & adjust cast members determine how to configure queues, and they find safe, efficient ways to load and unload guests from ride vehicles. Disney describes these cast members as essential to an attraction’s success.

Because both attractions are new, the team is building its protocols from the ground up rather than adapting existing ones. Disney quotes program development project manager Mark Diwas, who leads the team, on the collaborative nature of that work:

“We all use our knowledge collectively to figure out what’s going to work best. It’s fun to see what opportunities you can make together as you start something new.”
Mark Diwas, Cast Member

The team itself reflects how the program develops talent. Diwas spent nearly two decades opening attractions, including Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters, before joining the Avengers Campus expansion team in 2024 to help build and lead the new crew.

What Happens Before Opening Day

Assembling the test & adjust team marks the point where an expansion shifts from building structures to preparing an operation, another major milestone for the project. In the coming months, the team will assist Walt Disney Imagineers with on-site testing. The expansion went vertical last summer, and has made steady progress. Disney has not announced an opening date for Avengers Infinity Defense or Stark Flight Lab.
