Stay & Scream and Scream Early: HHN 35 Early Entry Guide

|

|

Get a jump start on the jump scares! Halloween Horror Nights 35 lets eligible guests get into select haunted houses before the event’s official 6:30pm start through an offering called Stay & Scream. Guests already inside Universal Studios Florida on a daytime ticket or pass who have HHN admission qualify automatically. Anyone without daytime admission can still get in on the early access by buying the separate Scream Early ticket. Here’s how the whole system fits together.

Everything You Need to Know About Stay & Scream and the Scream Early Ticket

IN THIS ARTICLE:

  • What Stay & Scream is and who qualifies for it
  • How the Scream Early ticket grants access to the early entry window
  • The full early haunted house timeline, from 2pm through the event’s official 6:30pm start

What Is Stay & Scream?

Stay & Scream is the early access period itself, running from 2pm until Halloween Horror Nights officially begins at 6:30pm. During that window, eligible guests can remain in Universal Studios Florida to enjoy select haunted houses and food and beverage locations. It’s a continuation of the free-roaming format Universal rolled out for Halloween Horror Nights 2025. The resort dropped its old gated holding areas that year in favor of wristbands. Guests could then explore the whole park freely during the early window.

Stay & Scream is open to any guest who holds valid daytime admission to Universal Studios Florida plus valid Halloween Horror Nights admission for that same night. Eligible daytime admission includes a single day ticket, a multi-day ticket, or a valid annual or seasonal pass. A guest doesn’t buy Stay & Scream separately or apply for it in advance. Simply holding one of those admission types for that day, along with HHN admission, makes a guest eligible.

Wristbands are required to take part, including access to early haunted house openings and queues. Eligible guests can pick up a wristband near Guest Services starting as early as park opening in the morning. That’s a new change for 2026. Two additional in-park wristband locations open at 2pm: Hogwarts Express at King’s Cross Station and Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast. A wristband separates Stay & Scream participants from daytime guests who will be asked to leave as the event nears its official start.

What is the Scream Early Ticket?

Anyone who doesn’t already hold daytime admission for their HHN date can still join Stay & Scream by buying the Scream Early ticket. Scream Early grants a guest admission to Universal Studios Florida starting at 2pm on the same day as their Halloween Horror Nights ticket. Once that admission kicks in, the guest becomes a “daytime guest” in the park. That daytime admission is what makes them eligible for Stay & Scream, just like the other ticket types we highlighted earlier.

Universal requires guests to buy a separate Halloween Horror Nights event ticket valid for that same calendar date before the Scream Early ticket can be used. Guests must arrive before the daytime park’s closing time and show proof of a valid event ticket when redeeming it. Universal’s marketing describes a 5pm entry cutoff for Scream Early. The ticket’s own terms describe arrival before daytime closing more broadly, so guests should confirm the exact cutoff for their date.

Scream Early Fine Print Worth Knowing

Several restrictions come attached to the Scream Early ticket, and they’re worth reading before buying. It’s non-refundable, non-transferable, and valid for one guest on the selected date only. Universal won’t combine it with other offers, promotions, or discounts, and late arrivals will not get a refund on the ticket. It can’t be applied toward park admission on any other date, and it doesn’t cover admission to the Halloween Horror Nights event itself, which still has to be purchased separately.

Stay & Scream Haunted House Opening Timeline

Universal stages haunted house access in the early window rather than opening everything at once.

Three haunted houses open at 2pm, the minimum guaranteed under the Stay & Scream program.

Queues open for a set of select additional haunted houses at 4pm.

A second group of houses begins opening at 5:15pm.

Halloween Horror Nights officially begins at 6:30pm, and every haunted house is open from that point on. House opening times can shift night to night, so it’s worth checking the Universal app for the latest schedule and locations.
