Stitch Meet & Greet in Tomorrowland Receives Themed Backdrop

Stitch has a new photo op backdrop in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom. Disney installed the backdrop at his meet and greet spot beneath the PeopleMover track, the same area that once belonged to Buzz Lightyear. The backdrop takes the shape of an illuminated spacecraft viewport, with a dimmed “Space Ranger Map” marquee sign still mounted above it. We caught Stitch posing in front of his new photo op during a visit to Magic Kingdom today.

Stitch’s Tomorrowland Meet and Greet Gets a New Backdrop

This corner of Tomorrowland sits beneath the PeopleMover track near the Carousel of Progress and the exit to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. It previously served as the dedicated Buzz Lightyear meet and greet location. Buzz has not held regular meet and greets there in some time. Instead, the spot hosted rotating “surprise” meet and greets with characters like Stitch and Chip & Dale for a period of time. That rotation has now given way to a somewhat permanent Stitch meet and greet at this location.

The new backdrop takes the shape of an arched spacecraft viewport, trimmed in silver and blue. Inside the frame is a starfield scene, showing the Earth, something resembling a faux reflection, and scattered stars and planets. Above the frame sits a marquee-style sign reading “Space Ranger Map,” a holdover from the spot’s Buzz Lightyear days. Our last look at this meet and greet space shows how the space used to look when Buzz Lightyear was meeting here. Stitch struck a pose in front of the new backdrop during our visit.
