Construction on Hurly-Burly, the vaudeville-inspired lounge replacing Jellyrolls at Disney’s BoardWalk, has entered a colorful new phase. New Paint and Awnings Take Shape
The former Jellyrolls building along Disney’s BoardWalk has traded its pale blue and white vertical stripes for a much bolder look. Crews have repainted the exterior in a deep teal body color, paired with white trim and lighter accents along the roofline. Pitched gables above the building’s curved corner entrance now highlight a scalloped white wave motif worked into the teal paneling. It’s a feature that previously existed, but one that blended in with the old paint scheme. This new paint scheme highlights the trim more.
Red awnings trimmed in a gold seashell-and-bead pattern now stretch across the ground floor. A large curved awning covers the building’s rounded corner entrance facing the BoardWalk promenade. The previous awning, also red, featured black and white trim meant to be similar to piano keys at the former dueling piano bar.
New Details Emerge Around the Entrance
Beyond the paint and awnings, new and returning fixtures have gone up around Hurly-Burly’s entrance. Gooseneck-style white sconces return and line the upper facade. Closer to ground level, round mustard-yellow wall sconces with white globe bulbs flank the to-go window. Crews have also mounted cream-colored decorative shell sconces on the exterior wall, continuing the nautical theme Disney has built into the venue’s design.
Multi-pane glass folding windows have also gone in. New speaker fixtures sit tucked beneath the awnings, a sign crews are wiring the space for the live entertainment and musical vibes Hurly-Burly will host each night. Construction remains active on site, with crews continuing exterior work as the building’s October 1st opening date approaches.
Disney has said the building carries a BoardWalk backstory spanning more than a century. Disney positions the Hurly-Burly as a return to the venue’s roots as a seaside theater that once hosted vaudeville performers. The lounge will run family-friendly trivia and games during the day, then shift to live music for guests 21 and older starting at 9:00pm. A walk-up window along the BoardWalk will offer select drinks without requiring guests to enter the lounge itself.
Disney revealed Hurly-Burly’s full menu earlier this month, including small bites like meatballs in tomato gravy and mini apple cider doughnuts. The drink list runs considerably longer, with ten specialty cocktails built around the lounge’s vintage theme, plus wine, beer, and hard seltzer. Several non-alcoholic and cocktail options will also be available at the walk-up window.
