New address filings from the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) have revealed the project names for two upcoming projects at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort. The project codenames were recently entered into the publicly-facing address database, giving us a sneak peek at what could be next for a Disney Deluxe Resort in desperate need of updates. Here’s the latest!
Project Bubbles & Project Amazon at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort
In the screenshot below, we can see “Project Bubbles” and “Project Amazon”, along with the shape outline of the corresponding addresses. Project Amazon is along the boardwalk promenade, while Project Bubbles appears to be closer to the lobby area.
PROJECT BUBBLES AT DISNEY’S BOARDWALK RESORT
Project Bubbles appears to be located at the former Promenade Fine Art Gallery, which closed in October 2025. The database info from the CFTOD says that the space is roughly 2,300 square feet in size and is located where the former Promenade Fine Art Gallery was.
In terms of what Project Bubbles could be, the first thing my mind goes to is a champagne piano bar. That said, any sort of bar or lounge here could cannibalize business at AbracadaBar. That, and it will likely be costly to install the required plumbing for a bar setup. That leaves the possibility open that it will simply be another shop. We’ll have to wait and see.
PROJECT AMAZON AT DISNEY’S BOARDWALK RESORT
Project Amazon appears to be located at the former Big River Grille restaurant, which closed in January 2024. Just like it would be costly for Disney to install new plumbing at the Project Bubbles site, it would be costly not to utilize the existing kitchen and plumbing at the former Big River Grille venue.
Now, we’ve heard concepts for the former Big River Grille before, but only whispers. At this point, the whispers that I’ve heard seem to align with the project codename. That said, codenames are usually intentionally vague, but they generally do have a connection to the project theme or finished project. Some recent project codenames that we know of are:
- Project Sausalito | Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Sausalito is a type of Pepperidge Farm cookie, similar to the “Milano” ship in the movie - Project Delos | Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Named after the company from the popular Westworld television show that aims to create a fully immersive world - Project Alcatraz | Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
It’s essentially a jailbreak - Project Marceline | Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Marceline, of course, is the hometown of Walt Disney - Project Maple | New DVC Welcome Home Center at EPCOT
Located in the Canada Pavilion, thus, maple - Project Birdseed | Moana Journey of Water
We assume that it is in reference to Moana’s sidekick avian friend Hei Hei. - The Italian Job | Disney Skyliner
It’s a gondola system, after all - Project Nugget | Fireworks upgrades for Magic Kingdom
Tied to the 50th Anniversary of the park, or the golden anniversary - Project H | Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser
We assume that’s for the Halcyon, the name of the fictional ship guests board
Ok, with that extensive list out of the way, we can see how codenames can be either loosely or directly related to the end result or theming of a project. With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at what we’ve heard and how it could tie into Project Amazon.
I had previously heard rumors of a Brazillion steakhouse, which could align with the Project Amazon codename given that the majority of the Amazon Rainforest is found in Brazil. That said, we have a curveball.
PROJECT CODENAMES COULD POINT TO FORMER LOCATIONS
While project codenames have been known in the past via Notice of Commencement permits or insider info, it seems highly unlikely that the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District would be breaking news here. That said, they did accidentally publish the building outline and size for the upcoming Monsters Inc. Door Vault roller coaster. We won’t go into that here, but we broke that news back in June 2025.
Instead, I think it’s more likely that the project codenames listed in the CFTOD database are for the former tenants. Project Bubbles would be for the Wyland Galleries, which was the tenant before the Promenade Fine Art Gallery. For those unfamiliar, Wyland was an internationally renowned marine life artist.
But what about Project Amazon? Well, the Amazon River is big, and the former tenant of the relevant space was Big River Grille.
At this point, I think the most likely explanation for the project codenames is that they were for the former tenants, and not necessarily a hint of what’s to come. Either way, we’ll be sure to keep an eye on the venues. Nearby, the former Jellyrolls location is currently under construction and being gutted. There is clearly plenty of change coming to Disney’s BoardWalk in the near future!
