On a recent visit to EPCOT, we stopped by the Canada Pavilion to find that scaffolding had returned to the exterior of the Hotel du Canada structure. As you may remember, the hotel facade underwent an 8-month refurbishment from June 2023 through February 2024, resulting in a new paint scheme and refurbished materials on the exterior of the building. The hotel looks great, but Disney’s plans for the space didn’t end with an exterior refurbishment. Back in July 2024, Disney began work on something new for the venue as well. Disney still hasn’t commented on what the new construction is for, but we stopped in recently to find that scaffolding had returned as work continues. Here’s a look!
Scaffolding Returns to Hotel du Canada
From the front of the pavilion, we can see that there is some scaffolding erected near the back corner of the Hotel du Canada structure. We’ll take a closer look at the back of the building as we check out the mystery project in a minute.
Updated Look at Canada Mystery Project
At the back of the pavilion, we can see that there hasn’t been much progress on the mystery project, code-named Project Maple, but there are some more construction materials on site. At this point, it’s not clear what is being built here, but we hope it’s something fun! Fan speculation has ranged from a merchandise location to an ice bar to a Disney Vacation Club space. I would love to see an ice bar here, but who knows what the final product will be.
