New Something Under Construction at Hotel du Canada in EPCOT

A couple of weeks ago, we brought you the news that construction walls had returned to the Canada Pavilion at EPCOT. The presence of the walls was relatively unexpected, given that the exterior of the Hotel du Canada had recently completed an 8-month refurbishment. Earlier today, we stopped by the Hotel du Canada construction site during an early morning stroll around World Showcase to find crews building something.

Hotel du Canada Construction

The rumor is that the construction is for a new lounge or bar area. Canada has a very popular beer cart, and a lounge in this previously abandoned space will likely do quite well. The other option would be for merchandise, but that’s unlikely given that Canada already has functioning shops.

As you can see in our photos below, an extension is being built on the west side of the Hotel du Canada facade, facing the gorgeous waterfall at the back of the pavilion. If Disney opened a lounge here with a nice table overlooking the waterfall, BlogMickey.com productivity would drop roughly 86%.

It looks like whatever work is taking place spans the entire length of the Hotel du Canada structure.

We have reached out to Disney World to learn more about the project, but Disney has not responded. If we learn more, we’ll be sure to share it!

As always, keep checking back with us here at BlogMickey.com as we continue to bring you the latest news, photos, and info from around the Disney Parks!
