New concept art for Monstropolis has debuted at Walt Disney Presents in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It includes a new exterior look at The Glob Theater and a peek inside the lobby, complete with a concession stand. The marquee in the exterior piece advertises “Welcome to Monstropolis.” We stopped by the updated Walt Disney Imagineering display to get a closer look at both. Here’s a closer look!

The exterior art shows The Glob Theater under a purple evening sky. A lit marquee sits over the entrance arch, with the clock tower rising behind it. Above it, a tall vertical sign spells out GLOB. The marquee reads “Welcome to Monstropolis,” with the tagline “A Scarefree Theatrical Extravaganza” beneath it. Out front, Mike Wazowski waves from the center of the walkway. Sulley hugs a group of kids on the left. Guests wait behind rope stanchions at the doors, and framed posters flank the entrance.
Glob Theater Pre-Show Art Shows a Monster Concessions Lobby
The pre-show art looks across a theater lobby toward a red-trimmed stand labeled “Monster Concessions.” Two chandeliers built from eyeballs and jagged teeth hang from the coffered ceiling. A swirling red and blue carpet covers the floor. Guests fill the room and line up at the counter. The art frames the lobby as a snack stop before the show.
Two banners flank the stand. One appears to read “Silence of the Cribs.” The other appears to read “The Little-Snore Machine.” Both appear to be monster spins on movie titles. Blue drapes and red curtains in faux balcony boxes line the room. Purple screens welcome guests to Monstropolis and sit over the doors that will lead into the theater.
The show inside is “Welcome to Monstropolis,” built around a new Randy Newman song. Disney announced it at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event on August 15th. The Glob Theater is one of four Monstropolis locations opening in 2027, according to Disney’s phased opening plan.
The pre-show area appears to be very similar to the MuppetVision 3D pre-show area. It looks like Disney has leveled the floor in the room, but other than that, it looks like a familiar layout, complete with a Monsters Inc. retheme.
The Rest of the Monstropolis Display at Walt Disney Presents
The Monstropolis section holds five pieces of concept art. Alongside the two Glob Theater pieces, the panels show the stage for “Welcome to Monstropolis,” Harryhausen’s, and the land’s entrance. A laugh canister blasts through the stage scene while Mike, Sulley, and other monsters perform. Harryhausen’s art shows a sushi chef figure behind the counter as guests dine. The entrance arch is wrought iron, flanked by brick pillars topped with winged monster statues.
Below the panels, four sculpts sit on white pedestals labeled Monster Pigeon, Splitting Hare, and Monster Squirrel. A sign titled Monstrous Maquettes says Walt Disney Imagineering “worked closely with Pixar to create a cast of ‘monsterfied’ creatures that add personality and charm to the city’s streets.” The sign adds that the sculpts are “just some of the unique wildlife guests may encounter.”
