Scaffolding Removed at The Glob, Toothy Trim Installed as Monstropolis Comes to Life

Monstropolis is coming to life at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and we made it out earlier today to get a look at the latest progress. Scaffolding has come down at The Glob Theater, revealing a refreshed facade and steel supports that will hold the attraction signage. Across the street, toothy, zigzag-shaped trim is now going up along the roofline at Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza. The entrance columns are back too, this time wired for electrical. Here’s a look around!

The Glob Theater Loses Its Scaffolding

Scaffolding that covered a portion of The Glob Theater facade has come down. The building is visible again for the first time in months. Cream-colored dentil trim now lines t the roofline. Below it, several steel brackets stick out from the brick at intervals, spaced out across the wall where a sign will eventually go. The Glob Theater is one of four confirmed Monstropolis locations targeting a 2027 opening, alongside Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza, Harryhausen’s, and a merchandise shop.

This section of the former Muppets Courtyard has seen some of the most visible facade work since demolition began. Scaffolding coming down usually means exterior work in that specific spot is largely finished. Signage and smaller detail work tend to follow.

Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza Gets Themed Detailing

Crews have started installing toothy, zigzag-shaped white trim along a roofline at the Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza building complex. A weathered wooden water tower sits atop the building, visible above the scaffolding that still wraps a large portion of the structure. Disney confirmed the restaurant takes over the former PizzeRizzo building and centers on Fear Tech’s mascot, Archie, a six-legged creature described as a popular fixture on both the Fear Tech and Monsters University campuses.

Scaffolding remains up across much of the building as crews continue work on the exterior. Crews have painted a faceted corner piece in a rust and bronze tone to look like weathered riveted metal, with rows of bolt heads standing out against the surface. The quick-service location sits next to the Monsters University Alumni Club, a dining space built around the school’s student clubs, fraternities, and sororities.

Entrance Columns Return With Electrical Inside

Disney has reinstalled columns at the Monstropolis entrance, and this time they include electrical wiring inside. The new columns currently sit as raw, unfinished precast concrete. Small square cutouts run along the seams between segments, built in for conduit or wiring access. Crews had previously removed the entrance columns entirely. The new columns going up with electrical suggests the originals simply lacked the wiring Disney wanted in place.

Story So Far

Disney has not confirmed specific opening dates for any Monstropolis location beyond the general 2027 phased opening target. We’ll continue tracking construction progress at The Glob Theater, Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza, and the entrance as Monstropolis moves closer to opening.
