Disney Cruise Line Switches to Per-Person Pricing, Removes Upfront Total Cost

Disney Cruise Line’s website now shows per-person prices in search results, where it previously listed an upfront total cost for your search parameters. The changes rolled out to the site recently. When we visited, we saw that a 3-night Bahamian cruise from Fort Lauderdale, for example, appears at $686 per person. Savings are also listed per person. Guests have to dig a bit to find the total price. When we clicked through, we only found the total price at the stateroom selection step, after choosing a travel party, stateroom type, and deck. The total upfront cost of the cruise is now, effectively, buried. Here’s a look.

Disney Cruise Line Per-Person Pricing: What Changed and How to Find Your Total

  • A line-by-line price breakdown for a Disney Dream stateroom

Disney Cruise Line’s search results now lead with an average price for each guest. Our walkthrough followed a 3-night Bahamian cruise on the Disney Dream, sailing January 8th through 11th, 2027. Our screenshots follow the process from the first results page to a specific stateroom. The price on screen changed as the choices narrowed from a sailing date to a single room.

Each search result card now shows a “Price from*” figure that Disney labels an average per person, based on multiple occupancy per stateroom. Our search results showed per-person pricing at $686 and has a “Save $138 Avg/Person” label.

Disney Cruise Line switches to per-person pricing, removing upfront total cost.

Before the update, the search results cards showed a total for a party. The upfront total cost was easy to see at a glance. The savings were also shown as your total savings for the entire party, not an average per person. Here’s a look at the previous search results page, with the full-party pricing.

How to Find Your Total Price

Finding your total price is now buried a bit. Here’s the flow that we went through to find our total price:

  • Select sailing date: Your journey begins by selecting which sailing date you’d like.
  • Confirm Travel Party: The default is one stateroom with 2 adults and 0 children, with options for an accessible room, connecting rooms, and another stateroom.
  • Select Stateroom Type: Tabs show Inside from $686, Oceanview from $725, Verandah from $797, and Concierge from $1,913.
  • Select a Deck: For a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah, the choices we saw were Aft from $962, Midship from $980, and Forward from $980. In the aft view, Deck 10 is $1,013, Decks 9 and 8 are $971, and Deck 7 is $962.
  • Select a Stateroom: A deck map lists each stateroom, and a side panel shows the bedding, features, and price of the one selected. It’s only at the stateroom that we see our vacation total.

While it seems like the change from Disney Cruise Line was to show the lowest possible number, getting you to click through, we preferred to see the total cost. If DCL is committed to the per-person pricing, I’d love to see a toggle option on the search results page to show the total cost.

Disney Cruise Line did not respond to a request for comment about the change.
