Disney Cruise Line has brought the Disney Adventure to Disneytown at Shanghai Disney Resort, and it opens to guests tomorrow, November 4th. The limited-time pop-up exhibition gives fans in China a preview of the cruise line’s first ship to homeport in Asia, starting with a towering ship facade right next to the park. Captain Mickey and Captain Minnie were on hand to welcome the exhibition. It’s also the first consumer pop-up Disney Cruise Line has opened in mainland China.
Disney Adventure Pop-Up Opens at Disneytown in Shanghai Disney Resort

The Disney Adventure sails out of Singapore, which is more than 2,000 miles from Shanghai. That said, Disney fans at Shanghai Disney Resort can now get a feel for the ship without leaving Disneytown. Disney Cruise Line and the resort celebrated the pop-up’s debut today with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy dressed for a day at sea.
A Ship Docks in Disneytown
Disneytown sits beside the main entrance to Shanghai Disneyland, along the shore of Wishing Star Lake. The pop-up’s centerpiece is a 40-meter structure, about 131 feet long, inspired by the exterior of the Disney Adventure. Its navy hull carries the Disney Adventure name in gold, with gold scrollwork sweeping toward the bow. Portholes line the side, and at least one has a screen showing animation, so the hull feels like a ship with activity already aboard. Statues of Captain Mickey and Captain Minnie greet guests at the entrance.
Behind the hull, a deck-themed stage sets the scene for photos. A red funnel rises in front of a painted sky, with clouds shaped like an anchor and a Mickey head. White railings and life rings complete the look. During today’s launch, Captain Mickey and Captain Minnie shared the stage with Donald, Daisy, and a group of dancers.
Andrew Bolstein, President and General Manager of Shanghai Disney Resort, welcomed Disney Cruise Line and Sarah Fox to Disneytown for the launch. Fox is the cruise line’s Vice President and Regional General Manager for Southeast Asia. “Running through mid-January, this unique pop-up will offer guests and fans in Shanghai a preview of what awaits aboard the Disney Adventure, introducing them to another side of Disney storytelling and giving even more reasons to visit the resort,” Bolstein said.
Inside, immersive displays walk guests through the ship’s seven themed areas. Interactive screens cover entertainment, dining, attractions, and amenities for every age. Detailed ship models and cross-section artwork show how the Disney Adventure fits together inside. The exhibition stays open through January 15th, 2027.
What Awaits Aboard the Disney Adventure
Guests first boarded the Disney Adventure for its maiden voyage from Singapore on March 10th. Disney says it’s the largest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. Highlights include the Broadway-style musical “Remember” and Ironcycle Test Run, the cruise line’s first roller coaster at sea. The ship sails three- and four-night itineraries, and some four-night sailings will call at Langkawi, Malaysia, starting December 31st.
Dining aboard leans into the region, with Chinese, Singaporean, Indian, and Japanese dishes next to international favorites. Fox explained what the pop-up means for fans in China. “The Disney Adventure opens an exciting new chapter for Disney Cruise Line in Asia. Our collaboration with Shanghai Disney Resort gives guests in the Chinese mainland a special way to step into that story before beginning their holiday in Singapore,” Fox said.
Fans outside Shanghai will get a closer look soon, too. Disney Adventure: Charting a New Course debuts November 28th on Disney+ and National Geographic, following the ship from its purchase to its arrival in Singapore.
