Fans curious about the ship’s creation will get a look at the story behind it in November. The Disney Adventure has sailed from Singapore since its maiden voyage on March 10th. Disney sets up the film with the line “Every adventure has a beginning.”

This isn’t the first Disney Cruise Line documentary, but it may be the most interesting. Magic of the Disney Treasure premiered on the National Geographic channel on March 28th, 2025, and began streaming on Disney+ and Hulu the next day.

A New Chapter for Disney Cruise Line in Asia

Disney says the Disney Adventure is the largest ship in the fleet and the eighth overall. It has seven themed areas, a Broadway-style musical called “Remember,” and Ironcycle Test Run, the cruise line’s first roller coaster at sea.

At the March 4th christening, Josh D’Amaro explained what the ship means for the region. He said the Disney Adventure “will introduce Disney to audiences who may be experiencing our magic for the very first time.” Disney expects five more ships to join the global fleet by 2031, and the ship has a five-year homeporting commitment in Singapore.

From Global Dream to Singapore

The Disney Adventure’s story starts with the purchase of a different ship. On November 16th, 2022, Disney announced the acquisition of a partially built cruise ship, the vessel previously known as Global Dream. Josh D’Amaro said the addition would “make a Disney Cruise Line vacation accessible to more families than ever before.”

Construction would finish at a shipyard in Wismar, Germany, managed by Meyer Werft. The ship would be based outside the United States, with Disney aiming for a 2025 debut.

Disney revealed Captain Mickey as the Disney Adventure’s bow character in May 2024. The ship floated out of Meyer Werft’s hall in Wismar on April 19th, 2025. Disney and Meyer Werft marked the legal handover in Bremerhaven on December 13th, 2025.

From there, the ship crossed the Atlantic to Port Canaveral. Captain Mickey, Captain Minnie, and more than 250 cast members welcomed it on January 15th. It became the largest passenger vessel to travel through the Panama Canal, according to Disney, and reached Los Angeles on February 9th and Tokyo on February 24th. The Disney Adventure arrived in Singapore on March 3rd. Robert Downey Jr. christened it as godparent on March 4th, and guests began sailing on March 10th.
