Permit Filed for Work on Ratatouille Expansion at Epcot

A permit has been officially filed with the state of Florida for work on “Project MI” with an address aligning with the France pavilion in Epcot. The permit notes work as “Core and Shell – Underground MEPF (Mechanical Electric Plumbing and Fire), Structural Steel, Concrete, Metal”.

Two things stand out to us on this permit:

  1. “Core and Shell”, this is an all encompassing description. This is the same phrase used for the current level of work being done on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland, which has a show building and theming elements.
  2. The lack of an expiration date. This means that the work outlined in the permit will be completed within a year. This could indicate a quick pace on this project. Disneyland Paris already has a Ratatouille attraction, and it’s not unreasonable to think the Epcot version of the attraction could be a quick-build clone.

As always, keep it here for the latest news surrounding this and many other projects taking place around Walt Disney World property ahead of their 50th Anniversary celebration in October 2021.
