The SpectacuLAB debuted this morning in Innoventions at Epcot.

The show is roughly 25 minutes in length and is performed 5 times daily (be sure to check the times guide). The show combines humor and science to bring edutainment back to Epcot.

Frankie, a quirky, eager-to-learn intern welcomes guests before real scientists take the stage to work through a series of experiements. The space fits 80-100 guests, and children are welcomed to sit in front of the stage and participate in the show! For our part, the show is a welcome change in direction for Epcot, back to Edutainment.

Here’s our full video of the debut show.

There are interactive experiments as part of the show, where volunteers are called upon:

  • Accelerometer sensors are used as a volunteer smashes a cup with various amounts of pressure applied
  • Barometric sensors are used to change the color of tubes in a “simon says” experiment
  • A bed of nails is used to demonstrate the principles of force

The show is a result of a partnership between Disney, muRata, and Science from Scientists.
