Disney Anticipates Cancelling Walt Disney World Reservations into June

In a new note to Travel Agents, Disney has made a few significant updates.

First, Disney won’t be accepting new reservations made prior to July 1st. We’re awaiting an update to the Walt Disney World website to reflect that change, but it should happen shortly.

Next, Disney has extended the expiration date for Florida Resident Discover Disney tickets until September 30th.

Now, Disney has put out a notification about the rolling cancellations that we’ve been covering over the past few weeks. Disney said that they will continue to send out rolling notifications to guests with cancelled reservations, one week at a time. Most notably, Disney said that they expect this cancellation process to “include any potential reservations cancelled in June 2020”.

Disney has been regularly notifying Guests whose Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort hotel bookings are being impacted by our temporary closures, letting them know they may modify or cancel their Disney Resort hotel reservations or Walt Disney Travel Company packages. Disney is asking Guests who didn’t book directly with Disney to call their Travel Professional. We expect that this notification process will continue one week at a time, including any potential reservations cancelled in June 2020.

With Disney not accepting any new reservations before July 1st and now their expectation for rolling cancellations to continue into June, it looks like the hopeful June 1st date that we’ve been monitoring since the parks closed might not happen at all.

As of publish time, Disney has removed all theme park hours through May 30th. Disney will begin a phased reopening of Disney Springs on May 20th.
