Disney Hotel Guests Making Dining Reservations Face Long Waits on the Phone This Morning

Today was the first day that Disney hotel guests could make dining reservations at select restaurants that will be opening June 22nd at select resorts. The catch? They had to call in to make a reservation instead of using the My Disney Experience app or Walt Disney World website.

To recap, Disney is opening some of their hotels beginning on June 22nd. Back in late-May, Disney cancelled all FastPass+, dining, and special event reservations. They also stopped accepting new reservations in an attempt to limit demand during their phased reopening. That said, there were still a significant amount of guests who held on to their scheduled Disney vacation. Guests will be welcomed back to select resorts beginning June 22nd, even though the theme parks don’t reopen until July 11th. The first opportunity for guests with vacations scheduled between June 22nd and July 10th to make a dining reservation was this morning, and they were only allowed to make reservations by phone.

While it’s unclear why Disney pushed all of these guests onto the phone lines, widespread reports of long hold times are coming in this morning. Guests are reporting waits of anywhere from 1 to 2 hours to make dining reservations.

Disney is currently building out a new theme park entry reservation system. It’s possible that Disney wants to funnel guests making dining reservations through this new system too, but Disney has yet to detail specifics.

If you’re planning on calling in to make a dining reservation for your upcoming stay between June 22nd and July 10th, expect long hold times! If you have a stay for July 11th and beyond, Disney is asking you not to call in at this time.
