California Governor: We’ll Make Disneyland Reopening Announcement “Very Very Shortly”, Fails to Provide More Details

In today’s press conference, Governor Gavin Newsom continued to tease a reopening announcement for Disneyland and other theme parks.

Newsom has received pressure to provide guidance not only from the theme park industry as a whole, but escalated pressure directly from Disneyland President Ken Potrock. News of Potrock’s disappointment came out as Newsom was making his live address, and while Newsom continued to tease a reopening announcement, he fell short of actually providing any details. According to sources familiar with the matter, Disneyland was targeting a late September reopening, but recent actions by the governor have called that into question.

Newsom said that he plans on making “announcements soon on theme parks and amusement parks”. Newsom continued talking and upped the ante, saying that he will be “making public the fruits of those negotiations very, very shortly”, but that he was not ready to make an announcement today.

    1. Nope. Keep it closed. Disney is non essential. Its just corporate greed. Disney is all about wealth not health. Shady and corrupt. Shame on you

    2. Marvin, the mayor of Anaheim said they need Disneyland open, not for Disney’s sake but for the small business around them. Disney drives more business than their own.

    3. It must really suck to be scared of living your life. It might be non essential for you but it’s not for a lot of people including the employees of the hotels, restaurants and other businesses that rely on Disneyland traffic for revenue.

    4. I think Newson has done a great job better than Trump Disney is nonessential its a theme park but its employees want to go back to work like everyone else but people in the OC are selfish and refuse to social distance or wear masks

    5. Buenas tardes, soy un fanático de Disneyland desde 1972 me gustaría estar pendiente de los sucesos en el parque para poder ir, vivo en Veracruz México
      Gracias
      Saludos

    6. As my Dad would say, “poop or get off the pot.” Newsome is jerking people around, and thinks it’s funny. People need to know they will have jobs to go back to. Small businesses and hotels in the area may never reopen. Anaheim is facing a $100 million shortfall because of this. How much damage does he want to inflict?

    7. I am a current cast member and have been out of work for 6 months now, we’re talking about way over 10,000 cast members that need to get back to work just for Disneyland and California Adventure. Disneyland may be non essential to some of you but it is essential to all of us cast members wanting to return to work and get our lives and finances back in shape.

    8. Marvin, I agree with you 10%, the other 90, not for a minute! Did you know The Walt Disney Company continues to pay their benefited employees their health insurance. It’s been 7 months, what greedy company does that? Just saying✌️❤️

    9. companies with strong unions, the unions had to fight to get those benifits from Disney, it wasn’t Disney being altruistic
