We recently shared an updated look at the TRON Lightcycle Run roller coaster and what is the best possible view of the work from within Magic Kingdom – atop the Astro Orbiter. Check out our post for a full rundown of the work, but here’s a teaser of the view.

Now, we want to take an updated look at the refurbishment taking place for the Tomorrowland PeopleMover. As a reminder, the Astro Orbiter is the central spinner of Tomorrowland, located above the loading platform for the Tomorrowland PeopleMover. Here’s an aerial photo of the space the day the Walt Disney World theme parks closed for COVID-19.

Starting with the trains, we unfortunately don’t see any construction taking place in earnest. The trains mostly remain piled up towards Space Mountain and haven’t moved in at least a week, if not longer.

There are really two projects going on for the Tomorrowland PoepleMover – an aesthetic one and a mechanical one. While there is no visible movement yet on the mechanical side of things, here’s a look at some of the aesthetic work still taking place.

We can see the finished look on the left pillar in the photo below.

As a matter of fact, Disney recently completed a section of work over by the “Purple Wall” at the entrance to Tomorrowland. Here’s a look at the work, including the “solution” of removing some of the old metallic look for the footers by simply painting them white.

Other parts of Tomorrowland remain untouched for now.

As of publish time, Disney has listed the Tomorrowland PeopleMover as closed for refurbishment through January 2, 2021.
