Good morning from an overcast Magic Kingdom! Today, we stopped by the TRON Lightcycle Run roller coaster construction site to take a peek at the latest work ahead of a rumored pause in a couple of months.
We won’t skip over the last point so quickly. In case you missed it, the latest rumors point to a construction pause for both the TRON Lightcycle Run roller coaster and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind roller coaster. This pause is rumored to take place after construction crews are able to weather seal the respective buildings, and in the case of TRON, finish installing the illuminated canopy.
While we took our standard photos from Storybook Circus to get a closer look at the work, we’ll start with views from aboard the Astro Orbiter. With the PeopleMover closed into 2021, the Astro Orbiter offers the best view of the canopy view from inside Magic Kingdom.
In this zoomed photo, you can see how the canopy flows over the roller coaster track
Here’s a look at what the finished product should look like.
We can see crews working on sealing off the building ahead of the rumored pause we talked about earlier. The semi-circle steel on the right of the photo below will serve as the main entrance to the attraction.
Here’s a look at the work from in front of Space Mountain.
We can see more pieces of the canopy staged nearby.
We’ll jump over to Storybook Circus for a few rather pedestrian phone photos before getting out the zoom lens to take a look at more weather sealing of the building and crews strewn throughout steel supports in place for more canopy installation in the coming days and weeks.
More canopy pieces are ready for installation.
