Walt Disney World has confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will play “September” by Earth, Wind and Fire on repeat all day on September 21st at EPCOT. The tradition began in 2023 and has returned every year since. This year, Disney is advertising the Star-Lord meet-and-greet and a limited-time drink alongside it.

“September” on Repeat at Cosmic Rewind
Six songs normally rotate at random on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. On September 21st, that changes. Disney locks the soundtrack to a single song for the whole day, and it’s always the same one: “September” by Earth, Wind and Fire, the 1978 hit that gave the date its unofficial holiday status among fans.
We first covered this tradition when it began, and we’ve tracked it every year it has come back. This is now the fourth consecutive year Disney has locked in the soundtrack.
A guaranteed song draws repeat riders for one day only, so anyone hoping to ride during the promotion should plan for slightly longer waits than a typical day at EPCOT. The other five songs return the next day.
Star-Lord Meet and Greet Near the Attraction
Guests visiting on September 21st will also have a chance to meet Star-Lord, Peter Quill, near Cosmic Rewind in World Discovery. Disney says that guests to check My Disney Experience for available times that day. While Star-Lord is not necessarily a rare character to meet at this point, he will likely be popular on the 21st.
Supernova Sip Debuts at Connections Café and Eatery
Connections Café and Eatery will serve a new drink called the Supernova Sip on September 21st only. It’s made with spicy hot honey syrup, lemon juice, and edible glitter, topped with orange cotton candy. A spirited version adds Maker’s Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon.
Guests interested in trying it will need to visit that specific day as the drink is offered on one day only.
Treasures of Xandar Merchandise
Just outside the exit of Cosmic Rewind, Treasures of Xandar operates as a themed trading post selling Guardians of the Galaxy merchandise and Xandar-themed collectibles. Disney is pointing guests toward the shop as a stop for a September 21st souvenir.
The shop itself is a permanent fixture of the attraction’s exit, not a one-day pop-up. Guests visiting outside the celebration will find the same selection as they will on the 21st.
