The Grand Floridian walkway to Magic Kingdom is now open! The walkway, which will finally give guests the option to travel by foot from not only Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, but also Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, realizes a plan decades in the making.

We made it out to Magic Kingdom this morning to check out the walkway and provide some photos and video!

First, here’s our time-lapse video of the full walk from Grand Floridian to Magic Kingdom. Walking with purpose will get you to bag check in just about 10 minutes. A more realistic, leisurely pace will probably take you 15 minutes, maybe a slight bit more.

And here are some photos of our walk. It’s actually a really peaceful walk if not a bit unpolished at times. This will be an excellent option for guests staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and maybe even ambitious guests staying at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

The walkway will open about an hour before park open, and close about an hour after park close, acoording to Cast Members we spoke with.

This bridge can swing open to allow watercraft to pass through, although it’ll likely be rare for that to happen.

Over at Magic Kingdom, the walkway drops you off at the newly opened boat launch. Guests from the boats and walkway will go through a newly opened bag screening area. Here’s a look at the boat launch.

Overall, the walkway is a wonderful and much-needed additon to the Magic Kingdom transportation options!
