365 days ago today, Disneyland would welcome fans for the final time before closing for the COVID-19 pandemic.
Disneyland tried to reopen in July, but was blocked by the California government. Disneyland would prepare to ramp up operations again for a late-September opening, but Disneyland would remain closed as Governor Newsom announced a new color-based system of determining what businesses would open. Despite multiple promises of progress in the months to follow, Newsom would not allow Disneyland to reopen – or even provide guidance for when they could do so. In late-October, Newsom would finally release guidance for theme parks – all but ensuring that they would be closed for the remainder of 2020.
Now, 365 days after guests last set foot on Main Street USA, Disneyland sent out a thank you message via Instagram.
Disneyland is currently eyeing a late-April reopening, but has not yet given an exact opening date.
