Layout Revealed for “Halcyon” Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Hotel

In honor of May the Fourth, we’re diving back into The Art of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge for a look into the layout of the Halcyon – the luxury ship that guests will be riding in throughout their 2-night experience.

Earlier today, we took a look at the model for the Halcyon, which is now on display within Walt Disney Presents at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

While the model is nice, we definitely won’t see anything like that parked outside of Disney’s Hollywood Studios anytime soon. As a matter of fact, we can compare recent aerial imagery to find out that only about half of the ship will be traversed by guests. Here’s a look at the model, followed up by an aerial photo that shows the guest “cabins” (windows) and front of the “ship”.

While guests will spend some amount of time in their rooms, it’s the “front” of the hotel, or “nose” of the ship that guests will find the most interactive elements for. In the cross-section photo below, we can see the layout of this portion of the hotel/ship and start to get a feel for how guests might move throughout the space.

Here’s our photo of the concept art released in The Art of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge.

Here’s a look at the nose of the Halcyon model in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Let’s break down the various sections as we virtually explore the ship.

The experience will begin outside the hotel in a sort of industrial terminal, where guests will check in for their 2-night stay.

Once you’ve checked into the hotel, you’ll board a launch pod where you’ll blast off into space and rendezvous with the Halcyon, the ship you’ll spend the next 2-nights aboard. Through windows above, you’ll see yourself leave the real world behind as you jump to hyperspace and draw closer and closer to the Halcyon.

When the Launch Pod docks with the Halcyon and the airlock opens, you will step into the ship’s main deck Atrium to begin your journey through a galaxy far, far away.

Going back to the cross-section layout, we can see that the atrium is the massive, two-story room that sits above the restaurant.

This atrium has gone through a few different design changes, which you can view in our article below.

Going down to the first level, we see that the Corellia Dining Room is located below the atrium. Disney shared some new concept art for the restaurant today. For more details, check out our earlier article.

Moving now to the nose of the ship, we can see the Bridge, which is where guests will learn about the ship systems and how to operate them, including navigation and defense – skills that may come in handy during a journey through this adventure-filled galaxy.

Just off the restaurant area, it looks like we’ll find the newly renamed Sublight Lounge.

Below the lounge, on the first floor of the structure, we’ll find the transport ship that will take guests to Batuu and back.

In effect, this will be a bus connection point where guests will be taken on a fully immersive trip to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge within Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

While that wraps up our tour of the Halcyon cross-section layout, there are certainly more things to do during your Galactic Starcruiser experience!

Other areas within the ship include the Engineering Room, where guests can sneak into a crew-only area of the ship and discover the inner workings.

Guests can also complete lightsaber training! Wielding a lightsaber while facing off against a training remote, where you may discover your own connection with the Force.

Within the guest cabins, every window will have a view of space as the Halcyon cruises through the galaxy.
