Orlando International Airport (MCO) Reduces Physical Distancing to 3ft

Guests using the Orlando International Airport (MCO) will find the popular destination using 3ft physical distancing instead of 6ft now. The airport, which appears to be making the change at the TSA checkpoints first, is taking advantage of new guidance from Orange County that allows for a reduction in physical distancing.

The move to 3ft could prompt other tourist destinations to consider relaxing their physical distancing in the coming weeks as well. Guidance at the federal level remains that people should physically distance when in crowds by observing a 6ft radius. At the local level, Orange County is allowing 3ft physical distancing effective immediately.

While we haven’t seen Disney take advantage of the 3ft guidance yet, IAAPA has said that their data supports safe physical distancing at 3ft within theme parks. As always, we’ll continue to track not only what happens within the gates of Walt Disney World, but also outside factors such as local health official guidance like the relaxation of physical distancing to 3ft.
