Disney Confirms Upcoming Splash Mountain Closure Is Not for Princess and the Frog Reimagining

Earlier today, we brought you news that Splash Mountain was closing on January 10, 2022 for refurbishment. In that article, we had our doubts that this was anything more than the annual refurbishment, but Disney had not made any announcement as to the reasoning for the closure.

Now, Scott Gustin has confirmed with Disney that the closure is for the annual Splash Mountain refurbishment and that the closure is not to begin work on the announced Princess and the Frog reimagining.

Disney has not said when the attraction will close permanently, but Magic Kingdom President Melissa Valiquette has said that “it’s going to take us some time” for guests to see progress.
