Disney: Bob Weis’ New Role to Keep Him in California as Imagineering Moves to Florida

Following the news that Barbara Bouza would be the new president of Walt Disney Imagineering and longtime president Bob Weis would step down, Disney has confirmed that Weis’ new role will keep him in California while the rest of the division moves to Florida.

An unnamed spokeswoman for Disney confirmed to the Orlando Sentinel that Weis would be stationed out of Glendale, California as the Global Imagineering Ambassador starting in January. Glendale, as many Disney fans know, is the former home of Walt Disney Imagineering at 1401 Flower Street, where a small group of Imagineers, including Weis, will remain.

While Weis had nothing but positive things to say about Bouza and the state of Imagineering, the timing of his stepping down and staying in California aligns with other news that Imagineers are either not happy with the move to Florida, or will quit Imagineering altogether.

Weis noted that his new role comes at an “inflection point” for Imagineering, but that he has “unwavering belief” in Imagineering.
