Disney World Pushes Forward With New Year’s Eve Dance Parties and Fireworks as Health Experts Advise Against It

As infectious disease experts caution against large New Year’s Eve parties, Walt Disney World is pushing ahead with plans to party like it’s 2019. Multiple dance stages are set up around the World Showcase countries in EPCOT and Magic Kingdom is scheduled to have two nights of fireworks celebrations, starting tonight. A high-energy DJ dance party is also planned for Disney’s Hollywood Studios on the 31st.

Just this morning, Disney World sent out a notification of its New Year’s Eve plans to guests via the My Disney Experience app.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, White House chief medical advisor, said that people should avoid large New Year’s Eve parties this year:

When you’re talking about a New Year’s Eve party where you have 30, 40, 50 people celebrating, you do not know the status of their vaccination, I would recommend strongly: Stay away from that this year. There will be other years to do that, but not this year.
    Dr. Anthony Fauci

Cities around the world are either scaling back or canceling their New Year’s Eve events as COVID-19 cases continue to increase at an alarming rate.

There will be tens of thousands of guests from all over the country in the Walt Disney World theme parks over the next few days as COVID-19 cases continue to skyrocket in Florida. All four Walt Disney World theme parks have sold out of tickets for today and tomorrow – New Year’s Eve.

Disney World has no state-imposed capacity limits, no physical distancing policies, and only requires face masks in indoor locations. Disney World does not require guests to be vaccinated to visit.

    1. It’s a criminal shame that Disney, which was lauded for its early and comprehensive response when the pandemic first arose, is now showing callous disregard as the disease rages again. Is this another fiasco of the Chapek regime?
