New Rope Drop Procedure in Effect for World Celebration and World Discovery at EPCOT

With the opening of a new, more direct walkway through World Celebration, we wanted to take a look at the new rope drop procedure for guests taking advantage of the Early Entry perk. Rope drop for all other guests remains the same – with non-resort guests being held in the entrance plaza in front of Spaceship Earth until the park officially opens.

All guests are let into EPCOT around 20-30 minutes before Early Entry officially begins. Once inside, guests are directed to an Early Entry checkpoint where Cast Members will check your MagicBand, card, or MagicMobile to ensure that you are staying at an eligible Disney World resort. If you are not staying at a Disney Resort, you’ll stay in this entrance plaza until the official park open time.

For guests who are looking to rope drop Test Track, Mission: SPACE, and Frozen Ever After, you’ll want to take the newly opened pathway to the left of Spaceship Earth. This walkway will take you past the soon-to-open Connections Cafe, and Cast Members will direct you to the breezeway between Connections Cafe and Creations Shop. Here’s a look at our walk this morning.

As you can see, we were held just short of the entrance to World Discovery, and the breezeway started to fill in with guests behind us. Roughly 2-4 minutes before the official start of Early Entry, guests were released and the power walk to Test Track was on. As you can see, the overwhelming number of guests went to Test Track first, and why wouldn’t you? It’s just a few steps away and with afternoon storms becoming more of a threat as we head into summer, it makes sense to go to Test Track first if you’re rope-dropping World Discovery.
