Tower of Terror Returns to Full(ish) Capacity…For Now at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Tower of Terror is operating at “full” capacity after months of work on the left elevator shaft at the Hollywood Tower Hotel. The attraction is running both sides of the elevators after months of refurbishment dating back to February, but Cast Members have indicated that it is expected that the right side will close at some point in the near future to have similar work completed. Disney has never officially acknowledged the work because the attraction remained open, even if it was operating at a significantly reduced capacity.

According to data from thrill-data.com, Tower of Terror is averaging an 82-minute wait today, down from an average of 115 minutes since the refurbishment began in early February 2022. Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane availability also lasted longer today than it has in recent months, signaling an uptick in capacity.

It’s still possible that the attraction isn’t running perfectly full capacity as today’s average of 82 minutes still outpaces the 51-minute average in 2021 and also outpaces the 2022 parks-wide average versus last year as well.

If you are planning on visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the remainder of 2022, we would still plan on abnormally high wait times for Tower of Terror.
