Construction Walls Removed from Fantasyland Station, Track Installation at TRON Progresses for Walt Disney World Railroad Return

While visiting Magic Kingdom today, we noticed two new bits of progress for the return of the Walt Disney World Railroad. Disney has not announced a formal return date for the attraction, but it is believed that it will open sometime later this year along with the TRON Lightcycle Run attraction.

We’ll start this update by heading over to the Fantasyland Station, where construction “walls” have been removed. In reality, these were just shrubs, but their removal is at least noteworthy.

We also noticed some progress over in the tunnel that runs underneath the TRON Lightcycle Run attraction and related walkways. As you can see, work is taking place to create a base on which to secure the track. We’ll start with a wide view, showing a wall that is meant to hide the railroad from guests in the TRON courtyard. Eventually, the railroad track will connect to the existing track near the Tomorrowland PeopleMover (which is where this photo was taken from).

And here’s a closer look at the work taking place inside the tunnel.

Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro is expected to give an update on the TRON Lightcycle Run roller coaster and the Walt Disney World Railroad at the upcoming D23 Expo next month.
