Walt Disney World Sued Over Disney Park Pass Reservation System

According to a report from Florida Politics, Walt Disney World is being sued by two Annual Passholders over Disney World’s Disney Park Pass reservation system. The claim is similar in nature to what the Disneyland Resort is being sued over, namely that the reservation system is unfair to Annual Passholders who purchased a pass with no blockout dates. The Disney Park Pass reservation system will prevent Passholders, or any guest, from entering any of the Walt Disney World theme parks without a free reservation. The problem arises when Passholders purchase a pass with no blockout dates and then find themselves unable to enter a park because it is full and reservations are no longer available.

While the Disney Park Pass system was initially introduced as a way of managing attendance during the COVID-19 pandemic, Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro was an early fan of the system, noting that the Park Pass system was “here to stay” all the way back in August 2020. Since then, executives at The Walt Disney Company have praised the Disney Park Pass system as a tool of yield management that allows them to maximize revenue at the theme parks while providing lower wait times and a more pleasant experience for guests.

    1. The reservation system and park hopping after 2:00 is absurd! It’s not a way to keep crowds down. It’s a way for Disney to control how many Cast Members they need on any particular day. In turn maximizing profits! Josh D’Amaro loves fools!

      • Entitled people have no case. The system was in place when you bought the pass. If you plan ahead you can get reservations. There was one day this year I couldn’t get a rez day before, and that was July 4 week.

Disney has the availability data. They will win if it goes to trial.

    2. Idiots in charge keep ruining Disney. They got rid of the Osborne lights. SERIOUSLY??? The a hole who made that decision should have been fired. Osborne lights was so magical. I am a florida resident and WAS an premium annual cardholder. Then they added the park reservation system and dont even get me started on paying extra for rides. I don’t even bother going anymore.

      • Yep that’s my biggest complaint. I’ve been to Disneyworld and Disneyland once each since the reservation system and lines were worse than pre-covid and I went during the “off season”.

    3. Make a reservation for a park that has available reservations.. wait till 2pm and then park hop. Quit complaining.

      • They can’t use the thing they paid for because of a rule created after they paid. That’s anti-consumorism and it’s illegal.

      • We have the right to complain we pay good money for annual passes. Why is it that universal which is now the top rated park and sea world all sone away with Reservations a long time ago. But not Disney. No oh. We do t want those ceos to make less money. But still treat the employees like s**t. But stupid is like stupid does people will still go there and spend there money so Disney can hike the prices up and then you get less for your money. So enjoy your Disney. I have better thing to do with my money then make some CEO’s rich

    4. The only way these dumb reservation nonsense and park Hopping restraints goes away is if people stop going and stop renewing their passes. It’s coming.. the prices will keep
Rising and Magic keys will reach all time high that only rich celebs can afford. It will get so bad a total boycot will eventually happen. It will be planned, strategized and carried out and many will join until they squeeze Disney dry of profits and things start changing but then and only then will things ever change. I wish someone with a large platform and clout on social media would start the process now!

    5. My family visits D W often. My daughter and family twice a year. We had a family reunion two weeks ago. My husband and I are in our late 70’s. When we left I forgot a bag of pills. Contacted DW. They found them and said we need to pick them up in person. Really, my husband cannot fly because of a brain bleed. So I would have to drive 950 miles to get them. Pills are very expensive and they will do nothing to help. So disappointed

    6. My biggest problem is the lighting lanes and genie +, don’t offer lighting lane if it’s not available in the system had where we went to Hollywood studios park which was originally mgm and none of the lighting lanes where available. The app is trash and needs to be debugged for viruses because nothing works correctly. It’s not fair to thoughs who bought into genie+ and still can’t use it on any of the rides. I would like a good chunk of my money back too
