Tower of Terror Reopens After Multi-Day Closure at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Tower of Terror is open again at Disney’s Hollywood Studios after two days of unexpected downtime. The attraction is currently posting a wait time of three hours as guests flood back to the attraction after not being able to ride it since Thursday evening.

According to data from thrill-data.com, Tower of Terror did operate for about an hour on November 18th, but then was closed the rest of the day and all day on November 19th.

Tower of Terror has had a string of difficulties over the past year or so. Back in November 2021, Tower of Terror was unexpectedly cut open for maintenance issues.

Then, starting in February 2022, Disney took one elevator shaft out of service for lengthy maintenance. That work continued into June 2022 when Disney finally opened both sides and returned to full capacity. It was expected that Disney was going to close the other elevator shaft for maintenance, but that didn’t happen. Now, there was some unexpected downtime over the past two days that appears to be fixed, but with elevated wait times.

Disney recently said that there is not an increase in attraction downtimes despite publically-facing data suggesting that ride downtimes have increased significantly post-COVID.
