Some significant milestones have been achieved at the Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana construction site in EPCOT. Recently, scaffolding was removed at the marquee rockwork that features the Heart of Te Fiti logo.
We recently took a spin on the EPCOT monorail to check out the latest progress at the self-guided walkthrough attraction set to open in late 2023. A significant portion of the scaffolding that was installed for the construction and theming of the rockwork has been removed.
We can also see construction crews walking through a plaza area towards the “end” of the attraction. This area will eventually have canopies and jumping water.
As we continue to pass through the site, our vantage point rotates a bit and shows more of the walkway that was recently poured.
Here’s a look at the marquee rockwork, followed by concept art of the area.
Continuing past the site, we can start to see parts of the project that will eventually become backstage areas.
Nearby, a pumping station and well will eventually support the vast project. No water has been pumped through the site just yet.
Looking beyond the immediate contruction site, we can see more pathway work taking place that will eventually lead guests from the entrance of Spaceship Earth to the Dreamers Point area directly behind Spaceship Earth.
