House Bill 9B, the bill that details DeSantis’ plan to take over the Reedy Creek Improvement District, has passed through the State Affairs Committee following a meeting this afternoon. The amendments proposed to the bill all failed or were out of order with the exception of a geographical redrawing of the district that lawmakers say corrects about 120 acres of land that was improperly claimed by the original RCID charter.

The bill was received favorably by the committee by a 17-3 vote with Eskamani, Harris, and Gantt voting against the bill.

The bill will continue through the legislative process before being voted on. We will continue to track the bill and its impact on Walt Disney World.
