In response to the Fantasmic fire last night at Disneyland where the Maleficent dragon was engulfed in flames, Disney World has suspended a similar fire-breathing effect in the Festival of Fantasy Parade at Magic Kingdom. Disney did not return a request for comment from BlogMickey.com, but Scott Gustin has reported that the fire-breathing effect will be the only suspension at Walt Disney World. Disney World’s version of Fantasmic utilizes a different pyrotechnic effect and will not be officially suspended, although it hasn’t been working perfectly in recent weeks.
The fire-breathing effect, which has actually malfunctioned before, will be deactivated on a temporary basis as Disney investigates the cause of the Disneyland fire.
