A photo posted to Twitter by user jaysquivel appears to show extensive damage to the Maleficent dragon following a malfunction and engulfing fire. The photo below shows crews extinguishing the fire and a burnt Maleficent dragon figure.
This morning, crews were seen installing scaffolding around what appeared to be the head of the figure after lowering most of the body into the stage basement. Video from thecalibae showed the work taking place early this morning as the park opened to guests.
Disneyland has removed performances of Fantasmic as crews determine a cause for the fire.
