While visiting EPCOT this afternoon, we wanted to check in on the latest work in the Harmonious barge removal project. As you may know, Disney World ended the Harmonious nighttime spectacular prematurely following negative feedback about the look of the hardware in World Showcase Lagoon during the day. With the show now over, Disney has been removing the barges from World Showcase Lagoon, and demolishing them in a backstage marina. Here’s a look at World Showcase Lagoon this afternoon, with the Mexico “taco” barge being the latest one to be removed.
Connection point infrastructure for both the centerpiece ring barge and peripheral “taco” barges remain in place. It’s not immediately clear if they will remain for use in the new nighttime show somehow, or if they will need to be removed as well.
