A large crane has been staged behind Cinderella Castle ahead of the removal of the decorative pieces on the spires of the Castle. The crane will be supported by high-reach cranes that have been utilized for the removal of decor from the walls of Cinderella Castle. We stopped by Magic Kingdom today to take a look at the latest progress.
Work is taking place overnight, so the views of Cinderella Castle and the all-important vacation selfies are not interrupted.
The moat has been drained for weeks for the smaller cranes to remove decor from the walls of Cinderella Castle.

Here’s a look at one of the decorative pieces that will soon be removed from Cinderella Castle. Instead of affixing the decor to the spires directly, it is attached to a custom-built cap that slides over the roof in an attempt to limit damage to the facade.
So far, the installation and removal team’s efforts have been rewarded with essentially no damage to Cinderella Castle.
