Disney has confirmed that maintenance work is behind the July 2026 pause of Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire. Crews are working on refinishing the Cinderella Castle forecourt stage in a fresh gray coating at Magic Kingdom. We stopped by recently to check out the progress. Disney completed the repainting of Cinderella Castle itself back in June, and this maintenance follows right behind it.
Cinderella Castle Stage Refurbishment Underway at Magic Kingdom (July 2026)

Fresh Surface at the Castle Stage
The stage sitting in front of Cinderella Castle has a refreshed look. A light gray coating now covers the surface, replacing the worn-down finish that was there before. Both raised platforms on either side of the stage appear to have the same fresh finish.
Heavy daily use hosting performances and seasonal shows made a refresh here unsurprising. Disney has kept the same layout, stairs, and platforms in place, and we didn’t see any signs of structural changes during our visit. Everything points to a cosmetic refresh rather than a rebuild.
Getting the work done ahead of the busy Halloween and Holiday season makes a lot of sense.
Following the Castle Repaint
This refurbishment comes right after Walt Disney World finished repainting Cinderella Castle back to its classic gray and blue color scheme. Crews refilled the castle moat in June to close out that project, following months of work across the castle’s spires, rooftops, and rockwork.

- Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire is not performing between July 7th and July 14th, with showtimes set to resume July 15th
- The stage last saw a comparable refurbishment in July 2024, a project that took roughly three weeks
