Disney World is currently working on constructing the infrastructure for EPCOT’s next fireworks show, due to debut later this year. As part of the work, new barges have arrived in a backstage marina and friend of the site bioreconstruct has a first look at the barges!
The barges are annotated with the number 4 in the image below, and are docked in the backstage marina where a lot of the construction for the new show is taking place. Of course, there is work underway in World Showcase Lagoon too, but more on that in a bit.
Zooming out, we can see the backstage work area and a portion of the marina that connects to World Showcase lagoon.
Disney has been fairly quiet about the new show, even omitting it from a recent press release where it should’ve been mentioned.
Here’s a closer look at the barges. We’re not sure yet what their function will be, but it’s likely that they will be floated out to World Showcase Lagoon to support the new show at some point. They are considerably smaller than the Harmonious barges that ruined the daytime look of the lagoon, but not necessarily “small”.
The barges are very much a work in progress, with what appear to be bases for a fireworks platform along the perimeter of the strucutre.
Perhaps the most important part of the barges are two outboard motors on either side. This very likely indicates that they will be quite mobile – a complaint about the Harmonious barges that were “permanently” docked in World Showcase Lagoon 24/7.
The barges will likely interact with the pilings that we’ve seen installed in World Showcase Lagoon over the past month.

I wonder if any of the materials to build this was recycled from the Harmonious setup
