According to the Walt Disney World website, Disney is currently planning on reopening Kali River Rapids on March 16th at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Previously, Disney World had said that the ride would reopen in mid-March following a January 8th closure for annual maintenance.
It’s worth noting that Kali River Rapids generally reopens earlier than the posted reopening date, although that’s not always the case. Typically, Disney World attractions do not open early from previously announced refurbishment dates, but Kali River Rapids generally bucks that trend.
The white water attraction takes guests through a lush Asian jungle, at least until you stumble upon a logging operation. Guests will get wet when riding Kali River Rapids, and oftentimes soaked as the raft passes near specially designed water features to ensure that you cool off on a hot summer day, including a 20-foot drop near the end of the ride. It’s because of the nature of the attraction to soak guests that the ride is often closed during the coldest months of the year.
